The grape variety refers to the type of vine or grape variety used in the production of a wine.

Burgundy has 4 main grape varieties: :
• Chardonnay (white) accounts for 51% of vines grown
• Pinot Noir (red) accounts for 39.5% of vines grown
• Aligoté (white) accounts for 6% of cultivated vines
• Gamay (red) accounts for 2.5% of vines grown
