Irancy is an appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) in the Burgundy wine region of France. This AOC is specifically dedicated to the production of red wines. Irancy is located in the department of Yonne, more precisely in northern Burgundy, not far from Chablis.
Irancy wines are mainly made from Pinot Noir grapes, with the occasional addition of César, a grape variety indigenous to the region. Irancy red wines are renowned for their elegance, finesse and complex aromas, often including notes of red fruit, spices and undergrowth.
The Irancy AOC is characterised by a specific terroir, with clay-limestone soils and varied exposure contributing to the diversity of the wines produced. Irancy winegrowers work in accordance with local traditions and pay particular attention to environmentally-friendly viticulture, with a growing trend towards organic and biodynamic practices.
