The Tastevin is a metal vessel used by oenologists to taste wine since the 17th century. It is made up of a cup and a handle to hold it between the fingers, as well as a number of hollows and bumps to increase the light's reflections and reveal all the subtleties of a wine's colour.
Nowadays, it is rarely used, and tastings are carried out in glasses, in particular the so-called "INAO" glass, specially designed to give the best possible reproduction of all the characteristics of a wine during professional tastings.
