Vini Vino

In a cellar, some wines are what we call "vins de garde", i.e.wines for laying down, which deserve to be cellared for several years before tasting.

These are wines that improve with age, as their aromas develop over the years, and ageing them in the cellar reveals their full aromatic profile.

Red "vins de garde" are wines with high acidity and powerful tannins. White "vins de garde" combine high acidity with a high level of residual sugar.

There is no mention of "vin de garde" on the bottles. To find out whether a wine is a vin de garde, you need the advice of a winemaker or wine merchant who can identify the grape variety, terroir and vintage that characterise a "vin de garde".
